Each year, the week before February break is reserved for Winter Carnival, widely regarded as the most fun week of the year. You’ve no doubt seen the decorated Commons areas, or seen people wearing jeans on their head. Here’s what you need to know:
dress up days
Each day, there is a different theme chosen that teachers and students emulate with their clothing. The number of students dressed in that style is counted during lunch, and Winter Carnival points are assigned. The week’s schedule is as follows:
Mon: Denim Day
Tues: Squad Day
Wed: Joggers vs. Loggers
Thurs: Commons Theme
Fri: Class Colors – Freshmen: Gray, Sophomores: Blue, Juniors: White, Seniors: Black
On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, classes are shortened to make room for activity periods. Various teachers host activities around the school, and some can even earn you points! Click the map for details:
As I mentioned above, classes are shortened during Winter Carnival. Here are the schedules for Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday:
The single most important event of Winter Carnival is the Winter Carnival pep rally. The bulk of the points are won during the pep rally, which occurs in the middle of the day on Friday. Show up with all your school spirit, and you can propel your class to victory!
Things happening outside of school and during the entire week can also earn you Winter Carnival points.
- Penny Wars is a fundraising competition run by Exeter High School’s Key Club. The class with the most donations loses, so stuff all your loose change in the other jars!
- The Student Senate is running a social media contest. See their tweet for details:
